Nachdem der VPACE Kids Cup im letzten Jahr erstmalig in Leogang gastierte und im Rahmen des Bike Festivals den perfekten Schauplatz für diese Wettbewerbsform bot, stand der Wettbewerb für die ganz jungen Kids wieder im Eventprogramm des 2023er Festivals.

Der VPACE Kids Cup ist mittlerweile eine feste Institution für alle Kids, die schon überdurchschnittliche Fähigkeiten auf einem Bike besitzen. Die Serie konnte sich bereits in vielen Ländern Europas einen Namen machen, nicht zuletzt natürlich in den drei Nationen, in denen sie stattfindet. Insgesamt gab es an den fünf Veranstaltungen 433 Teilnahmen, wobei 265 unterschiedliche Kids aus sage und schreibe 15 Nationen am Start waren. Los ging es mit den beiden Rennen in Winterberg und Willingen, die im Rahmen des iXS Dirt Masters und dem BIKE Festival stattfanden. Das anschließende Rennen in Oberhof war erneut ausgebucht und bot einmal mehr ein entspanntes Rennen für den Nachwuchs. Beim vierten Lauf ging es nach Italien, genauer gesagt nach Südtirol. In St. Kassian ging es etwas familiärer zu, was den Anwesenden sichtlich gefiel.

Der Abschluss der diesjährigen Saison wurde nun am vergangenen Wochenende im österreichischen Leogang gefeiert. Im Rahmen des BIKE Festivals kamen etwa 120 Kids zusammen, was damit erneut das teilnahmenreichste Rennen des Jahres war. Bei besten Bedingungen lieferten die Kids wieder einmal unglaubliche Leistungen ab und man konnte sehen, dass mittlerweile ein enormes Niveau unter den fünf bis zehn Jahre alten Kids herrscht.

Los ging es wie immer nach der Startnummernausgabe mit der Begrüßung und dem gemeinsamen Track Walk. Im Anschluss gab es dann eine Trainingssession, während dieser sich die Kids mit dem Kurs vertraut machten und sich langsam an ihren Speed herantasteten. Ein paar Hinweise der Eltern waren natürlich willkommen, aber allzu ernst sollte das Ganze nicht genommen werden, schließlich geht es um den Spaß am Wettbewerb und einer schönen gemeinsamen Zeit.

Am Nachmittag startete dann das Rennen, bei dem alle zweimal auf die Strecke gingen und der beste Lauf am Ende für das Ergebnis herangezogen wurde. Bei der Siegerehrung haben dann alle eine Medaille erhalten und manche sogar eine mit der Platzierung 1, 2 oder 3. Am Ende des Tages waren alle glücklich und die Serie kann auf eine weitere erfolgreiche Saison blicken.

Schon jetzt steht fest, dass es mit dem VPACE Kids Cup im nächsten Jahr weiter geht und auch die Entwicklung der Serie weiter voranschreiten wird. Einige der ältesten Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer werden im Rookies Cup an den Start gehen und dort zeigen, dass sie schon ordentlich Rennerfahrung sammeln konnten.

After the VPACE Kids Cup made its first guest appearance in Leogang last year and offered the perfect venue for this form of competition as part of the Bike Festival, the event programme of the 2023 Festival once again included the competition for the very young kids.

The VPACE Kids Cup has become a fixed institution for all kids who already have above-average skills on a bike. The series has already made a name for itself in many European countries, not least of course in the three nations where it takes place. A total of 433 participants took part in the five events, with 265 different kids from no less than 15 nations at the start. It started with the two races in Winterberg and Willingen, which took place as part of the iXS Dirt Masters and the BIKE Festival. The subsequent race in Oberhof was once again fully booked and once again offered a relaxed race for the youngsters. For the fourth race, it was off to Italy, more precisely to South Tyrol. In St. Kassian, things were a bit more familiar, which visibly pleased those present.

The end of this year's season was celebrated last weekend in Leogang, Austria. About 120 kids came together at the BIKE Festival, which was once again the most participated race of the year. In the best conditions, the kids once again delivered incredible performances and you could see that there is now an enormous level among the five to ten year old kids.

As always, the race started after the bibs were handed out with the welcome and the joint track walk. Afterwards, there was a training session during which the kids familiarised themselves with the course and slowly approached their speed. A few tips from the parents were of course welcome, but the whole thing shouldn't be taken too seriously, after all it's all about having fun in the competition and having a good time together.

The race then started in the afternoon, where everyone went out on the track twice and the best run at the end was used for the result. At the award ceremony, everyone received a medal and some even received a medal with a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. At the end of the day, everyone was happy and the series can look back on another successful season.

It is already clear that the VPACE Kids Cup will continue next year and that the development of the series will also continue. Some of the oldest participants will compete in the Rookies Cup and show that they have already gained a lot of racing experience.
